Most Live! classes meet 2 times per week--either on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some elective classes meet once per week.

Self paced classes do not meet live at all. Teachers are available throughout the week as needed.

How often do classes meet?
Live! classes have required attendance. For Live! classes, students can miss up to 5 class period before a grade penalty is incurred. Please see the attendance policies for Live! classes for more detailed information.

Which types of classes have required attendance?

No. All required English novels are listed in the VA Novel List* and are considered required reading for all students enrolled. Alternate novels will not be assigned.

Are there alternate English novels for Live! classes?
Work samples are pulled by the VA teacher for each learning period and saved in a shared Google drive folder. Progress report and report card grades are entered by the VA teacher directly in Pathways. Weekly grades and progress are updated by the VA program administrator weekly on a shared Google sheet.

How does the HST collect work samples and grades?
Teachers are available daily from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm by phone, email, and messaging within platforms. Teachers have a 24-hour return policy on all correspondence but make every effort to get back to students as soon as possible. Teachers are also available in open office hour sessions 2 times per week.
Each class is 5 semester credits. All "A" sections are automatically enrolled in the "B" section in the Spring.

How do I get access to my teachers outside of class time?
All courses that need to be are NCAA approved. Please notify your school counselor so that it is documented appropriately on the student's transcript.
Students may drop a class up to 10 school days (2 weeks) after the start of the semester for a full refund. After the 10 days, student accounts will be charged for the full semester cost of the course. Students my drop the course without a transcript penalty until the add/drop date for the student's school.
